My place is located midway between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, on the Iowa River about 5 miles south of Shueyville in northern Johnson County.

In 2000, after many years of growing things for my family, I started expanding our garden space in order to offer produce for sale at the Cedar Rapids City Market (Roundhouse in Czech Village.) In 2006 we started selling our stuff exclusively at the Saturday Iowa City Farmers' Market. In 2008 we decided to vend closer to home from a farm stand in Shueyville. In 2010 we started a CSA. In 2011 we extended our season (early and late) using a hoop house

My goal is to maintain the highest standards for growing food and preserving what is grown. I use BIODYNAMIC methods to protect the quality and safety of what I sell. Everything is grown outside in real Iowa dirt. On the rare occasions I must irrigate, its with water from a deep well which is tested annually by the State of Iowa. All our produce is hand-picked, at dawn or dusk, to insure quality.

Each year I scout many seed catalogs for heirloom (open pollinated) varieties and items that are not just the usual farmers' market fare. I want to surprise customers with the new (or old) and different and select only what I know will be better than "comparable" produce at your local supermarket. In particular I like to use Italian, French, and Asian varieties.
